Leadership Team
PASTOR CHUCK WYSONG, SENIOR PASTOR
I grew up in Southern California and accepted Christ into my life as a 7 year old at a Vacation Bible School. When I was in the 11th grade I went to a high school Christian camp and it was there that I knew God was calling me into the ministry. I graduated from high school and got involved with a high school ministry called Youth for Christ. Graduated from Cal State Fullerton and went to Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena California where I graduated with a Master’s of Divinity. I served for over 20 years as a youth pastor in local churches and then as the National Director of Youth Ministry for the Evangelical Covenant Church. It was there that I received my call to be a church planter. In June, 2005 our family was blessed to receive a call to move to Roseville, California and be the lead pastor of Bayside of West Roseville. I am married to my best friend, Gale and we have four awesome kids, Stephen, Tyler, Benjamin and Grace.
CHUCK VAN VLEET, CHAIRMAN
I gave my life to Christ in 1977 while a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes during High School. In 1996, I was baptized at Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, CA. My family is comprised of my wife Angie, and two boys; Alex who is 8 and Jordan who is 7. We have been attending Bayside of West Roseville since the first preview service, although we have missed a few Sundays along the way. Currently Angie serves in Children’s Ministry and participates in a Women’s small group, while I participate in a Men’s small group and serve on the Set-up/Tear-down team, the Financial Integrity Team and the Leadership Team which is a crew called to serve God and assist Pastor Chuck and his staff.
MELANIE KNAPP, VICE-CHAIR
I accepted Christ as my personal Savior at the ripe old age of 6. I was baptized on July 23, 1976 when our family was at a church family camp. I enjoyed our church youth group and later moved to San Diego to go to college. I was involved with several outreach ministries and bible studies at Horizon Church in San Diego. Along this path I have been on, I have taken several wrong turns, but God has proven his love and grace to me through each step. I am blessed to be married to my husband Greg for ten years. We have a blended family. God is working to weave our family together in a very unique way. We have three amazing kids, Brandon 14, Madison 13, and Andrew 9. We attended Bayside of West Roseville on the first preview service and have been here ever since. Greg serves on the Rolling Thunder Team. I have had the pleasure of serving on Special Events, Women’s Ministry and Youth. I am excited to be apart of this church family and cannot wait to see what God has in store for our church as we seek His will.
NATHAN ROBERTSON, FINANCIAL OFFICER
I feel fortunate to have known Christ as my savior for most of my life. I was raised in a Godly household by parents who love the Lord and demonstrated it in many ways. Being analytical I dug in deep during my early teen years, accepted Christ as my Savior and was baptized at Capital Christian Center. Though I have a long ways to go as I mature in my Christian walk I am confident in the depth of Christ’s love and grace and that I am his. I am blessed with a wonderful wife Denise and an amazing daughter Melissa. Our family has been attending BOWR since October 2006. We started regularly attending when the 40 Days of Community campaign kicked off. We joined a small group which looking back was Gods way of plugging us in to BOWR. I serve on the setup and sound trailer teams, Denise serves on the hospitality team and recently we committed to leading a small group.
As a CPA and businessperson I have a passion for developing organizational structure, mentoring co-workers and continuing education. I am a member of the Bayside Leadership team through God’s calling to use the business talents he gave me to support his work. A couple years back God used a now good friend Jim Stanton to urge me to join the Bayside Financial Integrity Team. In August 2009 I joined the Bayside leadership team as the Financial Officer with the role of ensuring proper policy, processes, reporting and review of all matters related to the finances of the church. I am excited about the mission of proclaiming the message of Christ to the Roseville area and beyond and am humbled to serve along side the many believers at Bayside of West Roseville.
BURKE HODGE, LEADERSHIP TEAM
I became a Christian at the ripe age of 7, when I chose to raise my hand (to be cool like my buddy next to me) and accept Jesus as my Lord and Savior. I spent the majority of my elementary age learning the stories of the bible through Sunday school and Wednesday night services. It wasn’t until I turned 18 that I felt a tugging on my heart that caused me to recommit my life and begin a new life in Christ. I am thankful He revealed Himself to me at an early age, but even more grateful that He caused me to remember Him and call me back into His presence as a young adult. My family and I began attending Bayside of West Roseville in December of 2006. I started serving at BOWR in January 2007 as the Men’s Ministry Leader. In March 2008, my wife and I decided to work together to teach others the importance of a healthy and thriving marriage. I also serve as a member of the BOWR Leadership Team where I spend my time learning, serving and sharing the gifts God has given me. Being a part of the Leadership Team does not excite me nearly as much as serving in the capacity God has called me to serve. It excites me that God, even through my weaknesses and sin, chose me to lead and love my church family in this capacity. It is through obedience and surrender that I accept His calling for my life. Honoring Him through serving as a member of the Leadership Team brings me great joy.
